When is therapy with a Tandem Cube Pessary useful?

Tandem Cube Pessaries are used for treating certain types of incontinence (ina-

bility to control urination or defecation) as well as problems caused by descensus

of the vagina, the uterus, the bladder or the intestine. Descents like this can be

caused by e.g. hereditary weakness of the connective tissue, postmenopausal

hormone deficiency or pregnancy and giving birth. Treatment with pessaries -

combined with pelvic floor exercise and, if necessary, oestrogen enriched creams

- can permanently improve conditions and allow changing to a smaller sized

pessary or even totally obviate the need for a pessary.

How does the Tandem Cube Pessary work?

The concave sides of the Cube Pessary adhere to the vaginal wall like suction

cups and the cube’s edges stabilise the tissue. The medesign pessary repositions

the organs and brings them into the anatomically correct position – counterac-

ting a prolapse or descensus of the vagina, the uterus, the bladder or the intes-

tine. Therapy with pessaries is an alternative to surgical intervention for the

treatment of descensus uteri and incontinence.

Which pessary is the right one for me?

medesign’s Tandem Cube Pessaries are offered in various sizes and models.

Selecting the correct size is a prerequisite for ideal treatment and freedom from

symptoms. Your gynaecologist will determine the right size for you. Select a

pessary, which securely stays in the vaginal vault even when coughing and

squeezing. Your gynaecologist will assess the fit of your pessary after a few

weeks or months to see whether you can switch to a different size.
