Argan oil

Argan oil is considered one of the highest quality oils in the world. It contains over 80 percent unsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants and a number of components, such as the plant sterols schottenol and spinasterol.

A very rare and valuable oil is extracted from the kernels of the olive-like fruit of the argan tree, which grows in Morocco. It is one of the oldest tree species in the world, now only grows in southwestern Morocco and is considered endangered. It can bear fruit several times a year. Its green fruit is inedible, a nut shape three times thicker than hazelnuts. When the pulp is removed, the almonds stored inside, smaller than a sunflower seed, are revealed. 100 kilos of fruit yield only 5 kilos of almonds, from which 2.4 kilos of oil can be pressed.
