Description

For the treatment of large prolapses. Its stem prevents tilting and slippage.

Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when organs move out of their normal position. Normally, the uterus and vagina are attached to the bony pelvis by ligament-like connective tissue structures and a strong membrane surrounding the vaginal wall. When the pelvic floor muscles weaken, these connective tissue structures give way, causing the vagina to descend. The bladder and rectum can also be affected. Nearly one in three women over 45 suffers from some form of pelvic organ prolapse. Conventional treatment using pessaries, selected by a doctor, can alleviate many of the associated symptoms.

The medesign club pessary Made from a special medical-grade silicone, it was developed for the treatment of large prolapses and has been used successfully for years. Its stem provides greater stability, preventing the ring from tilting or slipping out.

After about three weeks, a smaller club-shaped pessary should be inserted, as the lower vaginal tissue shrinks relatively quickly. Often, after several weeks, the pessary can be replaced with a cube-shaped one. Inserting and removing a club-shaped pessary is more difficult than with any other type of pessary.

Instructions for use:
When inserting the ring at an angle, grasp it with your right hand. The ring should be coated with Ladysoft lubricant. Gently push it backward and downward into the vagina, following the path of least resistance and being careful not to damage the sensitive urethral bulge. Once the ring has passed the urethra, turn it to face forward and push it upward as far as possible. The end of the ring is often just visible.
Removing the pessary, which is usually even more difficult, is done as follows: Thoroughly lubricate the vaginal area and the rim of the pessary with Ladysoft lubricant. Then, pull the handle of the pessary along the vaginal axis until it reaches the symphysis pubis. Often, a finger-thick ridge forms from the flaccid and prolapsed anterior vaginal wall, creating an obstacle. With your free hand, carefully push this ridge along the outer edge of the pessary.
