False-negative results from cytological examinations of smears are not necessarily the fault of the cytologists but are often the result of inadequate sample collection. The original Medscand Cytobrush® Plus allows for the optimal collection of a large number of intact cells from endocervical smears. Diagnostic accuracy is significantly increased when more and better-preserved cells are available for microscopic analysis.
Using the Cytobrush® Plus is incredibly simple: carefully insert it into the cervical canal, slowly rotate it once around its own axis, withdraw it, roll it onto a prepared slide while rotating it – done! The Cytobrush® Plus allows for the collection of diagnostically usable cell material, even in nulliparous women, postmenopausal women, or patients who have already undergone conization. The Cytobrush® Plus, available in both non-sterile and sterile versions, is a reliable, cost-effective, and safe alternative to smears taken with a cotton swab.
