Urethra pessary

The urethral pessary, an elastic ring with a domed top, has proven its worth in practice for approximately 40 years. The thickening at the upper edge supports the urethra, which descends during straining and coughing, and improves its sphincter function.
The thin part of the urethral pessary is first inserted with some lubricant (z.B.LadysoftWhen placing the pessary, it must be positioned exactly under the urethra. Without sexual intercourse, the urethral pessary very rarely shifts.

If urine leakage occurs despite the ring being correctly positioned, the position of the sphincter must be checked or a larger pessary must be chosen.
