First and foremost, a reliable cytological assessment requires sufficiently representative and well-preserved cell material. All further analysis steps, whether conventional or "liquid based" (Cell Suspension Based Cytologic) analysis methods, are based on this prerequisite. A conventional Szalay Cyto spatula smear provides highly reliable results. When used correctly, sufficiently well preserved and representative cell material is always obtained. This fact significantly reduces the number of false-negative smears. The Szalay Cyto Spatula is used for fast, safe and inexpensive cell collection during cancer screening of the cervix uteri.

The Szalay Cyto Spatula is for single use only.

A smear taken with the SZALAY spatula complies with the requirements of the BETHESDA nomenclature.
