Myrrh is the resin of the myrrh tree (Commiphora myrrha) which belongs to the balsam family and is related to frankincense. The name comes from the Semitic word murr (bitter). The myrrh tree grows mainly in Yemen, Ethiopia, Sudan and Somalia, the resin is obtained by cutting the bark. When the bark of the myrrh bush is cut, liquid gum resin emerges, which solidifies in the air into irregular reddish-yellow pieces.

Myrrh is used for room scenting.
